Keurig® home brewers use the most power during their initial start up. When heating for the first time after being off, peak usage is 1,500 watts. If the power is kept on, the brewer will keep the internal tank up to temperature using between 200-400 watts when heating.
While idle and not maintaining heat, the brewer will use the average electricity of a 60-watt light bulb. All Keurig® home brewers are equipped with an Energy Savings Mode Auto Off feature should you choose not to leave the brewer on. The initial heating mode when turning the power on should take about three minutes.

Yes, you can shop for a commercial coffee maker at https://www.keurig.ca/business-solutions, but you’ll need to contact a sales representative to purchase one. However, we strongly recommend our home coffee makers be used at home, and our commercial coffee makers be placed in commercial and office settings.
"If your brewer is not brewing the full amount selected, it may be caused by the following:
1. The exit needle is clogged by coffee grounds or cocoa mix. Please refer to the K-Cup® cleaning instructions.
2. The brewer may need to be descaled. Please refer to the descaling instructions.
3. The removable water reservoir was removed during brewing. Place the water reservoir back onto the brewer and perform a cleansing brew without a portion pack."
The internal water temperature of your Keurig® coffee machine is 89°C (192° F). Therefore, when you brew a coffee, tea or hot cocoa, the temperature of the liquid is approximately 89°C (192° F). Although, it’s important to note that the temperature can vary depending on the type of cup or mug used. For example, the temperature of the liquid in a ceramic mug will differ greatly compared to a paper cup.
This information applies to the all of our coffee makers, which include:
|K-Café® Special Edition|
The following coffee makers feature the ‘Strong Brew’ function, which intensifies the taste of your coffee:
|K-Café® Special Edition|
How do you use the strong brew function? Simply insert a new K-Cup® into your coffee machine and press the strong brew button.
The drip tray will hold up to 237 ml of liquid. This information applies to all Keurig® coffee makers. If you’re looking to purchase another drip tray, please consult our accessories page.
To remove the drip tray, simply slide it toward you, keeping it level at all times to avoid spilling. Clean with a damp, soapy, lint-free, non-abrasive cloth. If you’re looking to buy a replacement Drip Tray, check out our accessories page.
No, we no longer sell Keurig 2.0 coffee machines. The 2.0 lineup was discontinued in 2014 and replaced with our current range of innovative Keurig® coffee makers. However, you may still find Keurig 2.0 replacement parts on our accessories page.
Firstly, power off your coffee machine and unplug it from the electrical source. If your coffee maker has a removable water reservoir, gently remove it and check for any cracks or fissures. If you do find a crack, purchase a new water reservoir from our accessories page. You can also contact our customer service department by calling 1-800-361-5628 or fill out this email form.
If you’re having trouble turning on your Keurig® coffee maker, try the following tips:
1. Check if the coffee maker is properly plugged into the electrical outlet.
2. Try plugging other appliances into the same outlet. If the problem persists, you may have an electrical issue.
3. See if the coffee maker works using a different electrical outlet in your home.
This issue relates mainly to customers who continue to use Keurig 2.0 coffee makers, which have been discounted since 2014. In most cases, the ‘energy saver’ function is enabled, which is the reason why your coffee maker powers off unexpectedly. To disable this function, head to the settings menu on the LCD screen and click the energy saver function.
If you’ve noticed the needle to puncture the K-Cup® pods is broken, immediately call our customer service department at 1-800-361-5628 or fill out this email form. Yes, you can put the My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Coffee Filter in the dishwasher on the top rack of the dishwasher.
No, you cannot change the temperature of your Keurig® coffee machine.
No, we always recommend using our descaling solution to clean your coffee maker. The acidity in vinegar is not always standardized, therefore, you may actually be damaging your coffee maker by using a vinegar solution. For more information, read our how-to blog post about descaling your Keurig® coffee maker.
1. Remove the K-Cup® assembly. To remove the assembly from the brewer, open the cover by lifting the handle. Grasp the top of the K-Cup® holder with one hand while pushing the bottom of the assembly upward with the other until it releases. The K-Cup®holder is dishwasher safe.
2. Clean the funnel. The funnel can be removed from the K-Cup® holder by pulling on it until it snaps off. The funnel is dishwasher safe. To replace it just snap it back onto the K-Cup® holder.
3. Clean the exit needle. The exit needle is located on the inside bottom of the K-Cup® holder. If coffee grounds or cocoa mix get clogged in the exit needle, it can be cleaned using a paper clip or similar tool. Remove the funnel from the K-Cup® holder, insert the paper clip into the tube and move it around to loosen the clog and remove any debris. Please note, you cannot poke all the way through the needle as the opening of the needle is located on the side and not the top.
4. Install the K-Cup® assembly into the brewer. After cleaning, align the K-Cup® holder tabs with the opening placing the two front tabs on the bottom and the single tab on top, and snap it into place by pushing down on the top rim.
Once your Keurig® coffee maker has been primed, you cannot empty the water from the inside. The coffee maker's internal tank cannot be drained. If you need to store your coffee maker, empty the removable water reservoir and store your brewer in a safe and frost-free environment. Be sure to store your brewer in its upright position to avoid water leakage from the inner tank.
If you store the brewer in a cold environment, you run the risk of water freezing inside the brewer and causing damage. When you prepare to use it after storage, we recommend rinsing the removable water reservoir with fresh water and running three cleansing brews without a K-Cup® pod.
If you plan to move your coffee maker to a different location, turn it off, unplug it, and empty the removable water reservoir. If your coffee maker has been in an environment below freezing, please be sure to let it warm to room temperature for two hours before brewing.
When you first purchase a new Keurig® coffee maker, we often recommend a cleansing brew. This helps prepare the coffee maker to brew high-quality coffee and removes any impurities. To perform a cleansing brew, do NOT insert a K-Cup® pod.
Ensure the water reservoir is full and press the brew button function. Your coffee maker will produce clear, hot water. Empty this clear water in the sink and repeat if necessary. You can also do a cleansing brew periodically. If your coffee maker needs to be cleaned, use the descaling solution.
The frequency of descaling depends on the level of mineral content of your water. This is why we recommend using filtered or bottled water. Calcium deposits or scale may build up in your brewer and hinder your brewer performance. Regularly descaling your brewer every 3 to 6 months helps prevent this from occurring.
Regular cleaning will prolong the life of the brewer and is recommended for proper operation. We recommend cleaning the external components with a soapy, damp, non-abrasive cloth. Never immerse the brewer in water or other liquids.
The removable water reservoir and water reservoir lid are NOT dishwasher safe so you’ll need to clean them by hand. Your brewer should be descaled every three to six months. Scale buildup is harmless, but if left unattended, it can hinder your brewer's performance. Descaling your brewer regularly helps maintain the heating element, water reservoir, and other parts of the brewer that come in contact with water.
We strongly recommend descaling your brewer every three months if your water has a high mineral content. To descale your brewer, only use our descaling solution.
Our water filters are made of charcoal that help purify the water in your reservoir. This helps enhance the flavour and taste of the coffee. We recommend changing the filters every 2 months. Don’t forget to descale your coffee maker as well every 3 to 6 months.
Head over to our accessories page where you will find a range of replacement water reservoirs. Please ensure you purchase the right reservoir that corresponds to your Keurig® coffee maker.
No. We advise against the use of distilled water as it can make the coffee taste flat. Moreover, since distilled water contains no minerals, your coffee maker may not be able to detect water in the reservoir and the “add water” light will remain on.
There may be an issue with the internal hot water tank. Start by turning off your coffee maker and removing the chord from the power source. Hold a cup under the area where liquid normally comes out and hold the brew button.
After 5 to 10 seconds, liquid should be coming out from the internal hot water tank. Drain all of the liquid and wait a few minutes before plugging your coffee machine back into the power source. Next, try brewing a cup of coffee. If the liquid is still cold, contact our customer service department at 1-800-361-5628 or fill out this email form.
Keurig® coffee makers are high-quality appliances and, with proper care, are intended to provide years of satisfying performance. However, should the need arise for warranty servicing, please call our Customer Service department at 1-800-361-5628.
